September Wrap Up: The Month of Pretending It’s Fall Because I’m Australian

Hi all!

Wow, September is already over! I feel like this month went by in the blink of an eye — I could have sworn it was like September 5 and suddenly it’s October now. It’s wild.

Anyway, I read quite a few books this month! Which I’m happy with, as I have been in a weird on-and-off reading slump for a few months. Also, my work got shut down twice because of positive cases. The first time, we were back in the office within a week because no other cases occurred, but with this second round, we have two cases so far. Not sure if we’re supposed to quarantine for a full 14 days — still waiting on clarification from my work. So I’m just at home in some weird sort of limbo!

Read: 6 books, 5 novellas, 2 audiobooks, 1 graphic novel

Book of the month

It’s been a while since I’ve had two books of the month! And what great books they are!

The Fellowship of the Ring was amazing. I can definitely see why it’s such an amazing fantasy series. I fully intend to read the rest of the series at some point — I’ve watched the movies but finally got around to reading the book!

The Watchmaker of Filigree Street was phenomenal. I’ve read The Bedlam Stacks by Natasha Pulley and adored it so I’ve been working through her other books too. This one was so unique and fun, and saddening too. But wonderful, highly recommend.

Non-Bookish Stuff

This month, I played Link’s Awakening which I’m so close to finishing! I really enjoy this game, it’s so cute and low-stakes. But some of the boss fights could be quite difficult and made me want to throw my switch lol.

I also binge-watched Squid Game which was fantastic. Such an intense TV show, I literally couldn’t look away from the screen even for a moment. Highly recommend if you like thriller/horror shows.

I also started re-watching Adventure Time again. I just rewatched the entire show this year already and I’m doing it again — I really love this show, lol.
