2021 Reading Goals and Challenges

Hi all!

Today I’m bringing you my reading goals and challenges for 2021! I did really well on my goals and challenges last year, so here’s hoping I do just as well this year.

I’m going to make sure I stick to realistic goals as last year I had heaps — although I did complete them all, I was quite tired and stressed by the end of it. So I’m going to only participate in things I really want to.

Let’s make 2021 a more relaxing reading year.

Goals

Read 100 books

Usually, I make my reading goal 52 books (one book a week) but this year I’m feeling a bit more ambitious, even as I reduce the amount of goals I have. Let’s do it!

Read backlist books from authors I love

I didn’t do as well as I hoped with this challenge last year, although I did read quite a few backlist books. This year, I want to focus on authors I already love — for example, like Susanna Clarke, V.E. Schwab, Alexis Hall, Silvia Moreno-Garcia, Cat Sebastian, and Mary Renault.

Finish series you’ve been reading for ages

I really need to finish some of the series I’ve been in the middle of for ages. While I’d like to catch up on some series that are still ongoing, I mainly want to finish reading series that have already been completed. Some series I definitely want to finish are: Nightrunner series, The Chronicles of Narnia, and the Alexander the Great trilogy.

Read at least one classic a month

If I want to have any hope of completing my Classics Club TBR list by October 2022, I need to read 2 classics books a month, but I’m going to focus on at least one a month for this goal.

Read books I’m genuinely interested in

This is another goal from last year but it’s one I’d like to remember! A lot of the time, I get swept up in the hype of new book releases and read them when I’m not interested and end up hating them. So I need to keep making sure I just read books I’m intrigued by.

Challenges

My own readathon

These books aren’t 100% confirmed yet, but most are. I’m meeting my friend soon and we’re going to go over them to make sure these are the books we want to read, but I reckon most will stay the same! If they change, I’ll be updating this. It’s just we’ve just been too busy to finalise everything haha.

Popsugar 2021 Reading Challenge

So excited to get into this challenge! Last year, I completed all of the prompts for the 2020 Popsugar Challenge 💪🏼. Here’s hoping I can do it again!

Love to see it, your Goals are attainable 🙌🏽🤗 I’d like to also read 100 books and I’m most def being a lot more selective in what I spend my time reading. I hope you slay them all! Happy reading🖤
