Blogmas #21: Anti TBR – Books I Will Never Read

Hi all!

Welcome to Blogmas day 21! We’re so close to the end, I can’t believe it! Just four more days 🙌🏼

Today, I’m bringing you a pretty cool tag: the Anti TBR — Books I Will Never Read. This tag was created by Nicole & Her Books, check it out below:

1. A popular book EVERYONE loves that you have no interest in reading?

I just have no interest in reading Ready Player One! A lot of my friends — whose book reviews I trust — convince me that I’m not going to enjoy this. Plus, it’s sci-fi — which I don’t like anyway — and is a guy metaphorically jacking it over the nostalgic 80s. Don’t care, sorry!

2. A classic book you don’t have an interest in reading?

1689450

I really enjoy reading classics books so it was a struggle to choose one that I literally have no interest in reading … but I managed to with this beast! I just know it’s going to be boring and dull and the symbolism will probably go over my head haha.

3. An author whose books you have no interest in reading?

I’m going to be brutally honest here: Brandon Sanderson.

I just literally don’t care about his books and have zero interest in reading anything from him. I’m sick of the way people laud him as the best author out there and try to convince everyone to read him. I also really don’t like sci-fi books and so I know I’m not going to like his books for that reason too.

4. An author you have read a couple of books from & have decided their books are not for you?

Christina Lauren!

I have read two of their books — Beautiful Bastard and Autoboyography — and hated both. And people keep telling me to give their books another chance but no! My rule for authors is to read two books and if I don’t like either, that’s it, I’m done!

5. A genre you have no interest in OR a genre you tried to get into & couldn’t?

I just cannot get into sci-fi at all! I have no idea why, because I love anything to do with space. But every sci-fi book I’ve read, I’ve ended up hating. Even the queer ones! Which is weird for me.

I think it’s something about the tropes and how going into each sci-fi book, you know exactly what’s going to happen?

6. A book you have bought but will never read? (this can be a book you have unhauled/returned to the library unread)

34189556

The Wife Between Us! But not for any bad reason. I borrowed it from the library and just didn’t get around to reading it. Then I started to hear not so great reviews and remembered I didn’t enjoy thrillers that much. So I don’t intend to re-borrow this or read it.

7. A series you have no interest in reading OR a series you started & have dnf’d?

6101718

Ughhhhhhh this series. I started the first book — got to page 300-something in a 400 page book — and had to DNF because it was SO BORING. Like mind-numbingly boring. And when I dislike a book but I’m so close to the end, I force myself to finish it anyway, but I literally could not with this book. So I’m definitely not finishing the rest of the series.

8. A new release you have no interest in reading?

Got to be brutally honest here, I’m just not interested in this Hunger Games prequel at all! I enjoyed The Hunger Games but not so much that I’d continue the series or even reread the books.

I feel the same way about A Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes! I read The Hunger Games for the first time over the summer and liked the trilogy, but not enough to read the prequel. This was a really cool post!
