Announcing ‘The Failed Readathon’ Readathon

Hi all!

I hope everyone is doing well during these tumultuous times!

Today, I’m bringing you an original readathon that I created in a few minutes one night: The Failed Readathon Readathon. Read on to find out what, exactly, this is all about.

What’s it about?

The Failed Readathon Readathon is all about reading the books from previous readathons you participated in … that you never got around to reading.

I decided to make this readathon because I realised I keep adding the same few books to readathon TBRs again and again and again, but I’m never reading them. So I decided it’s about damn time that I finally do.

(How hilarious would it be if I failed this completely 😂).

The Failed Readathon Readathon will run from August 1 – August 31, your time.

Rules:

This is a very low-key readathon. There are many ways you can participate and it’s all up to you!

So long as you read at least 1 book from a previous readathon that you never got around to reading, then you’ve successfully completed this readathon.

The aim is to read at least a few books, but I understand this is a really difficult time and lots of people are in reading slumps, so as long as you read 1, you’ve passed!

But here are some other ways you can participate:
  1. Read ALL the unread books from previous readathons you participated in
  2. Choose 1 unread book from each previous readathon you participated in
  3. Choose 5 readathons you participated in and select as many unread books as you want
  4. Choose unread books from previous readathons in just 2020 you participated in

Basically, there’s many different ways you can participate in this readathon and it’s all in your hands — whatever you feel most comfortable doing.

Here’s some ways you can search for previous readathons you participated in:

  • Search ‘readathon’ on your blog
  • Search ‘reading challenge’ on your blog
  • Search ‘TBR’ on your blog

For me personally, I’ve gone through my entire blog (by searching the terms above) and decided to choose from 5 previous readathons I participated in.

TBR

I’ve chosen to read books from 5 readathons I previously participated in. I decided to read all the remaining books from each readathon that I never got around to reading from. This comes to 10 books, which I think is a pretty good, realistic amount I can read!

Asian Readathon 2020

This readathon took place back in April 2020 and I managed to read every book on my TBR … except for one. And that book is The Scum Villain’s Self-Saving System by MoXiang TongXiu.

NEWTS Readathon 2019

The NEWTS Readathon took place last year in July and I actually did really well with it! For the 12 books I had on my TBR, I managed to read 10, so I will be reading the remaining two for this readathon, which are Los Nefilim by T. Frohock and Tell Me How You Really Feel by Aminah Mae Safi.

SapphicAThon 2020

SapphicAThon took place just in May this year and I managed to read all but two books on my TBR. The first was Tell Me How You Really Feel which was also on my TBR for NEWTS (above). And the second was Sisters of the Vast Black by Lina Rather.

Triwizard Tournament 2019

The Triwizard Tournament took place last year and I had a lot of fun participating in it. I was part of Beauxbatons school, so only had to read books for that school, but I still wanted to try and finish each prompt. Out of the 8 prompts, I completed 4 of them. So for this readathon, I still need to read 4 books!

Five Star Readathon 2018

This readathon took place two years ago! And there are still some books I haven’t read from that long ago. They are Wanna Bet? by Talia Hibbert and His Cocky Valet by Cole McCade, which I did start but never finished because I wasn’t enjoying it. But going to force myself to finish it!

Are you going to be participating in my readathon?

It’s super low-key, so no pressure! So long as you read 1 unread book from a previous readathon, you’ve completed this challenge!

Let me know!

Ohhhhhh!!!!!!!!! This is such a cool idea!!!! I think I will stick to one or two books from FFFeb that I didn’t get to, I never joined too many readathons anyway but I still want to participate in this one!! Great job Laura 💕💕

    Definitely joining in!
Though I might be cheating a bit since I will continue with the Dark Artifices series by Cassandra Clare. I had yet to read Queen of Air and Darkness. When I picked it up, I realized I didn’t remember the previous stuff clearly. So I put it down after 2 chapters and have started from Lady Midnight again!!

This is such a great idea for a readathon!! I think that I’ll see how I do in The Reading Rush, since that’s the only readathon that I’ve ever done, and then I’ll read any books that I don’t read for the readathon 🙂

Oh, I just found this and I absolutely love it! It’s already August, but better late than never, I suppose. I’ll have to take tomorrow to figure out what all books I need to read, but I’ve been doing really bad at sticking to readathon TBRs lately, so this might be exactly what I need to read the books I missed and managing to get something reading done this month!
