Three-Month Reading Goals Check-in

Hi all!

It’s already that time of the year where I make sure that I’m on track for my reading goals and challenges for this year!

I’ve read 34 books this year so far, which is a ridiculous number, I’m aware. But that just means I’m closer to achieving my goals!

Let’s see how I’m going!

Reading goals

Read 52 books

I’m definitely WAY ahead of this goal! Here’s all the books I’ve read between January and March (and one April book!):

QUALITY NOT QUANTITY

I think I’m doing ok with this goal! I’ve read quite a few quality books, although there’s been a few that are just fun reads (because the state of the world is so bad right now haha).

READ BACKLIST BOOKS FROM AUTHORS I LOVE

I’m kind of doing well at this goal. While the backlist books I’m reading aren’t ALL from authors I love, I have definitely been reading a lot of backlist books which is great because I feel like we all get so caught up on ARCs and new releases, and ignore our actuals TBRs.

BORROW MORE FROM THE LIBRARY

Very proud of myself for sticking to this goal! The 10 books in “bought” weren’t necessarily bought this year, though.

READ LONGER BOOKS

Ok, I’m definitely doing well at this goal, because I’m currently reading a Chinese novel that’s over 2000 pages … and I read another one that was 1500 pages :). And at least 10 books I’ve read this year are over 500 pages long.

But I would like to read more of the longer books on my physical TBR by next check-in in July.

Challenges

My own readathon

This readathon is something my friend and I have been doing for two years now, but we had to change it slightly at the beginning of the month. Initially we had too many long historical books one after the other and because the world is a mess right now, we kind of wanted to read something lighter and not as dense. So we changed a few of the months around.

I’m REALLY behind on Les Miserables: I’m supposed to have read 300 pages by April and I’ve read … 23. So yeah, I need to get to that as soon as possible!

But I’ve read the books for January and February, and I’m halfway through March’s book (which is over 2000 pages long). So I’m on track for the monthly books!

Popsugar 2020 Reading Challenge

(The titles in red are books I plan to read for that particular prompt, ignore them.)

I’m doing really well at the Popsugar reading challenge! Out of the 50 prompts, I’ve read for 26 of them!

Read a series or two

I actually thought I wasn’t doing well at this challenge at all, and yet when I checked on the books I’ve read this year, I noticed that I’ve actually five! The books I’ve read for this challenge are:

Although I’ve read more than I realised, I need to make reading more books inn series a priority and actually finish a series. I said I would only start a new series when I finish an older one and … that has not happened. So I need to do better wit this goal!

#StartOnYourShelfAThon challenge

Oh wow, I am failing at this challenge so bad! Out of the 31 books on my physical TBR, I’ve only read three. And I’ve also bought A LOT of books, especially in February which is my birth month, and now I have even more books to read! Ugh.

Classics Club

I really ignored this challenge last year (it’s a five year challenge, and I’m up to year three), which is bad so I need to make reading classics a priority this year.

And so far I’m doing really well! I’ve only read two classic books this year — Little Women and Maurice — but considering last year I only read four for the entire years, that’s a massive improvement. But again, I need to be reading more!

How are you going with your reading goals? Have you read any of the same books as me? What bookish goals do you have? Have you joined any challenges? Let me know!

Looks like you are doing a great job with your goals, I hope you are able to keep it up and thrive! Especially with your classics, they can be a challenge at times, but there are some that read pretty modern.
