December Wrap Up: The Month of Christmas & Sleepiness

Hi all!

Happy New Year’s Eve! I hope whatever you’re doing today, that you’re enjoying the it and having fun! I’m going to an engagement party tonight — yes, on NYE — so I’ll be spending the whole day getting ready and while I do that, I thought I’d share my final monthly wrap up of 2019.

Oh boy. Genuinely can’t believe it is the end of 2019. This year has flown by so fast and even though I know its not true, I feel like I’ve done nothing. Ah well. Here’s to a better 2020!

December was and always is a slow month for me because I work in a retail store and Christmas is always a massive event. I start working full-time there and I’m so tired by the end of my shift, that I just can’t be bothered doing anything … which is why I read so few books this month and didn’t post very often. But I’m sure January will be better.

Oh wow, I adored this book so much! The Unspoken Name comes out February 11, 2020, and you need to make sure you get your hands on a copy! I don’t want to say too much because I’ll talk about it in my review, but in order to get you excited, here’s what this book has:

  • lesbian orc as main character
  • disaster and depressed gay elf as the other main character
  • lesbian mage as love interest
  • amazing world building where people travel to different worlds from a maze
  • gods, cults, human sacrifices — seriously, what more do you need?
  • READ THIS BOOK!

I also got the ENTIRE Artemis Fowl series (minus two books) FOR FREE! I found them at a free library sale and I’m so freaking excited to read it!

Christmas book haul and other Non-bookish things

December was also Christmas time and I had a good, two days of continuous eating. I spent Christmas Eve with my dad’s side of the family, and Christmas Day with my mum’s. For Christmas, I got a handbag, a necklace and some other jewellery, a teacup, lots of underwear, and a reusable water bottle. Just want to mention that my present from my parents was signed “from Santa” because even though my siblings and I are all older, my mum still tries to keep Santa alive.

Anyway, here is my Christmas book haul!

I got: Becoming by Michelle Obama, The Dutch House by Ann Patchett, Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir, and the Scythe trilogy by Neal Shusterman. Very excited to read all of them!

This month, I finished watching Glee and I don’t quite hate myself as much as I thought I would have. Season 4 and 5 were absolute trash, but season 6 was iconic and I can see myself rewatching that season. Kinda sad the last season only got 13 episodes, because I really like the kids in the show and would have liked to know more about them.

I also watched season 3 of The Dragon Prince and it was epic and so perfect! I am so impressed by how well the writers and animators developed this season, especially the battle in the last episode. Just want to say that Soren is the best character in the show who has done nothing wrong ever in his entire life. I am so freaking excited for season 4 now!

Working in retail must be mad during Christmas but you still got loads of reading done! I’m really keen to watch The Dragon Prince so I’m glad you like it!
