N.E.W.T.S. Readathon TBR

Hi all!

Yeah, for some reason I thought it would be a good idea to join another readathon 😅 Clearly I don’t learn my lesson. I just finished completing both the #IronTomeAThon and The Reading Rush — let’s see if I can aim for three for three!

Also, I don’t know where this fits in the readathon, but I thought it was important that you all know I’m Slytherin 🐍.

 

I’m going to be completing my N.E.W.T.S. for…

In order to complete my N.E.W.T.S., I need to get an:

• O in Ancient Runes
• O in Arithmancy
• E in Defence Against the Dark Arts
• A in Charms

Tests:

There’s a bunch of tests I need to take in order to be a pass my N.E.W.T.S. and become a registered Curse Breaker.

While I don’t need to read all three books for some tests, I will aim to anyway! I want to be the wizarding world’s best curse breaker!

So here’s my TBR:

Ancient Runes

A: Ehwaz – read a book recommended by a friend: The bind-up of Los Nefilim! Ash @ Wild Heart Reads says nothing but good things about this book and has even sent me a copy!

E: Book written in past tense: I’ve been desperate to read the second book in the Daevabad series, The Kingdom of Copper, and it’s written in the past tense!

O: Book that’s been on your TBR for ages: I’ve been meaning to read Takeover by Anna Zabo for literally two years so here’s a great chance.

Arithmancy

A: Book that ends on an even page number: Under the Udala Trees ends on an even number, and as this book is the August pick for my bookclub, I’m going to add it for this readathon!

E: Read a standalone: This is How You Lose the Time War! I’ve heard so many good things about this book, I’m keen for it.

O: Book that’s longer than 350 pages: Docile is a massive 500+ page book so this matches! It’s an ARC and isn’t out till next year, and I’m excited for it!

Defence Against the Dark Arts

A: Book that’s black under the dust jacket: This one is hard because I don’t actually own many hardcover novels, so I decided to choose a book that has a black cover. I’m going to read Curses, Foiled Again by Sera Trevor!

E: Gilderoy’s memory charm: first book you just remembered from your TBR: I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of Goalie Interference, the second book in the Hat Trick series.

O: Cornish pixie! Swat it away with a book by an English author or set in England: The Lady’s Guide to Celestial Mechanics!

Charms

A: Read a book that you think has a gorgeous cover: I adore the cover for Tell Me How You Really Feel! Seriously, its stunning!

E: Read a graphic novel: I meant to read Preludes and Nocturnes back in July and I didn’t, so I’ll read it this month!

O: Spongify (softening charm) – read a paperback book: My library has the paperback copy of The Dragon Republic!
