Hi all!
Pride Month is here and there’s so many amazing readathons that I want to join! It was so hard to choose just one, so I decided to join a few instead! Please let me know which ones you’re joining!
Queers Gone By reading challenge
First up is Molly @ Bi Bookish Babe‘s reading and art challenge, Queers Gone By, which I am a host for! I created the reading prompts for Josephine Baker and Janelle Monáe.
I’m choosing Janelle Monae’s prompts to follow!
Read a book written or set during 1985-present day
Read a book, fiction or nonfiction, about a female musician or actress: Janelle is a singer, songwriter, actress and producer
Read a book with a Black female MC
Read a book with a pansexual main character: in April 2018, Janelle came out as pansexual
Read a dystopian or sci-fi novel: Janelle’s most recent concept album, Dirty Computer, blends dystopian sci-fi elements with a totalitarian government that represses people’s sexualities and identities
Queer Lit Readathon
This readathon is running from June 2-8. You can decide how you want to do this readathon: you can either attempt all the prompts, or only choose a select few by reading in a line. I chose to do the top four challenges, from left to right.
See yourself: a book where you see yourself in the character
I’m going to choose to read a book with a bisexual MC.
Group read: read the chosen book for the readathon
Rainbow cover: a book with colours of the rainbow flag on it
There’s blue and yellow on this book cover!
????: a prompt you get to make it up for yourself!
Mine is … audiobook. So for this prompt I have to listen to a gay audiobook!
Eloise’s June readathon
Eloise @ Eloise Writes has created a readathon for Pride Month which I also want to participate in! Here is the bingo board:
I’m going to attempt all 9 prompts, but I will be using the same book for multiple prompts, and books from the other readathons too!

My own readathon: 24-hour readathon
This isn’t going to be a proper readathon, or anything very difficult. I’ve just always wanted to participate in a 24-hour readathon but they never run when I have the chance!
So I decided for this Pride Month to host one and even if no one participates, that’s fine. But if you want to join me, I’m thinking of running it from Saturday June 15 (12am/midnight your time), to Sunday June 16 (12am/midnight your time — one whole day!
I’m not sure what books I plan to read during the readathon, but they will definitely be the ones mentioned for the other readathons. I’ll probably try to stick to contemporary novels because they will probably be the easiest ones to finish.
Please let me know if you want to join me on this 24-hour readathon! I’ll post a blog post about my experience, as well as keep everyone updated on my instagram story. Follow me on Instagram: @thebookcorps!
