It’s been a minute since I’ve done a book tag — like last year, hahahah — so I thought it’s about time I do another!
I was tagged in this bookish tag by my very lovely friend Steffy @ Little Booky Nook. Please go check out her amazing blog! Steffy is super funny, very sweet, and one of my favourite people in this entire community! Follow her blog here!
Question 1: If your life were a book genre, what would it be?
Oh, man. What a hard question! Contemporary would be so boring — because it’s so realistic — so I’m going to say fantasy!
I’ve been obsessed with magic and magical worlds since I was a child. I would constantly daydream about being a magical princess, and I think fantasy really reflects who I am the most. Plus, I’ve been told I constantly have my head in the clouds.
Question 2: What villain from a book do you identify with the most?
Definitely Jerry from Any Old Diamonds! Any Old Diamonds is KJ Charles’ newest novel about Alec, the son of a duke, who plans to rob his father to take revenge for the death of his sister — and Jerry is the man he hires to do so. Jerry isn’t entirely a villain but he’s also not an anti-hero — he’s something in between. He is not a good person, he’s a little bit sociopathic (or he tries to come across as such), he doesn’t care about anyone or anything, and he is more than willing to stab or beat someone up if they even look at him the wrong way. But he does all of that to hide a tender heart — and his facade crumbles pretty quickly when he falls in love with Alec. And that’s kind of me — at least my temper. I have a tendency to go from zero to a hundred real quick, but deep down I’m very empathetic.
Question 3: What protagonist are you most similar to?
No surprises here when I say Elizabeth Bennet from Pride and Prejudice! Lizzie can be a little prejudiced, but she really loves her friends and family, she always puts other people before herself, and she’s also snarky as fuck. I adore her. Our personalities are very similar, from our humour to our bitchy personalities, to the fact that we’re massive book nerds. The only thing I don’t have is my own Mr Darcy.
Question 4: Which book did you connect with in the past that you no longer do?
I used to be so freaking obsessed with the Sookie Stackhouse series in high school. Very, very obsessed and I’m not even sure why. I was in a massive vampire stage in high school. But now that I look back on the series … it’s not that great. Seriously, it’s a pretty crappy series and I’m so disappointed in myself for being obsessed with it? But also, I was like 15 at the time and we all liked weird shit when we were younger.
Question 5: What recent book read would you love to be a character in?
THE CRUEL PRINCE / THE WICKED KING.
I read these two books this month and became obsessed. I am so invested in Jude and Cardan and I didn’t think I would be?? You all know I love enemies to lovers so you’re probably surprised to hear I didn’t expect to like them so much, but I kind of thought that everyone had hyped them up. So I was expecting to be a bit disappointed by the books and by Jude and Cardan’s relationship, but NOPE. I FREAKING LOVE THESE BOOKS! And how am I going to wait a whole year before the final book? I can’t.
Question 6: How do your reading habits show off your personality?
Sporadic. Procrastinator. Messy. Moody.
^^ All of my reading habits relating to my personality.
Question 7: What book taught you something about yourself?
I can’t remember with Mortal Instruments novel it is, but whichever one features Magnus and Alec getting together and Magnus explaining his sexuality. Magnus was the very first character I had seen my bisexuality represented in and it was such a momentous moment for me.
(But please don’t feel obliged to do this tag if you don’t want to/have already done it.)
