Books I Still Need To Read Before the End of the Year

Hi all!

Well, the end of the year is upon us! Who can believe? I certainly can’t — it’s gone by so fast, but also the beginning of the year dragged on forever? What an oxymoron.

Anyway, I’ve read a lot of books this year, and I’m really happy with the ones I’ve read. BUT … there’s still a couple of books that I really, really need to read before the end of 2018. There’s not many, but I also feel like I need to finish them before the year ends. For some reason, I can’t read them in 2019 — I don’t know why lol.

Here we go!

Queen of Air and Darkness is the final book in The Dark Artifices series and I’ve been dying to read this book! I’m so freaked excited to get into it, but I’m also really, really scared. I have a lot of headcanons that I want to see come to fruition, but what if they don’t? I’ll be disappointed.

Stalking Darkness is the second book in the Nightrunner series and I’ve been meaning to read it for ages — ever since I read book one. I absolutely loved book one and I just know I’m going to love this book too.

The Cruel Prince will be the first Holly Black novel I’ve read, and I’ve been meaning to read this, especially because so many reviewers I trust adored this book. I have a copy and I really want to fall in love with June!

A Christmas Carol is on my Classics Club list and I need to read it before Christmas. I actually saw a performance of this novel while I was in America and loved it, so I’m hoping that will inspire me to read the book!

Amelia Westlake is about two girls at high school who create a pseudonym, Amelia Westlake, to stick up for other students and make change in their school. But along the way, the girls begin to fall for one another. I’m currently reading this book and am loving it so far.

Daughter of Smoke and Bone is the first book in the Daughter of Smoke and Bone series, and I’ve actually already read it, so this will be a reread. I’ve never finished the series but I desperately want to, especially since I read Taylor’s other series, Strange the Dreamer, and it’s amazing. So I know I’ll love this series.

Soft on Soft is a sweet f/f romance between a fat black woman and a fat Arab woman – the book is super diverse and very inclusive. It’s also been written by a friend of mine and every one of our mutuals seem to love this book, and I just know I will too!

Criminal Intentions #6 is the last book in the series that will be released this year, so I need to hurry up and read it! I’ll be honest I’ve put off reading the series after the disappointment that was book four, but I have an ARC of book six and kind of read the last few pages of the book and LOVED IT!

Through Blood, Through Fire is the final short story in the Ghosts of the Shadow Market series. I’ve heard really good things about this last book, and after how amazing #7 was, I can’t wait to read this one!

Girls of Paper and Fire sounds really amazing, and I actually received a physical ARC of this! I found out recently that it features a f/f romance, so I definitely want to read this ASAP!
