I know, I know. You’re probably asking why is she joining a readathon when she’s failed the past two she’s been in? And by failed, I mean read only one book for each readathon. Oops.
But I’m a sucker for a really good and fun readathon, and the Five-Star Readathon just seems so awesome! It’s hosted by May @ Forever and Everly, Elise @ The Bookish Actress, and Julianna @ Paper Blots! Great job to all the hosts, this looks like such a fun readathon!
The challenge is running from October 1 to October 7 — from midnight to midnight in your time!
So the main rule for the readathon is to read books that you think you’ll be rating 5 stars. There’s also five challenges to complete if you want to, but it’s not necessary. But, as I mentioned, I freaking love readathons so I’ll be attempting the challenges!
Now you may be asking, “Wait, Laura, aren’t these books the books you were going to read in the other two readathons?” And my answer to that is, “Yes, they are, but shut up, I’m lazy and you know this.”
Here are the books I plan to read:
Read a next book in a series you like
Balefire is the most recent book in the Whyborne and Griffin series, a paranormal and historical series about two husbands who defeat magical creatures, evil cults, and save the world along the way.
I have missed Whyborne and Griffin so much, I really can’t wait to read this book!
Read a book by a favorite author
I love TJ Klune’s Green Creek series, but I’ve never actually read anything else by him! I know I’m missing out because all of my blogging friends love his Tales of Verania series. One friend has even read The Lightning-Struck Heart nine times!
I’m really hoping I love this book as much as they do!
Read a book you were anticipating and never got around to reading
I bought this book when it came out back in May and I had plans to read it as soon as possible, because it was around the time of the whole #cockygate saga.
Anyway, I’ve almost finished reading all of Cole McCade’s books and this is one of the last and, seeing as I’ve rated all his books 5 stars, I’m pretty sure this will be 5 stars too!
Read a book over 500 pages
I’ve been trying to read this book for two weeks and now I. Just. Can’t. Move. Past. Chapter. 14. I have a feeling it’s going to be 5 stars because, hello, mermaids, sapphic women, paranormal investigation? How awesome! I’m just not feeling the writing, but also not much has happened yet, so once the drama starts, I have a feeling I’ll love it!
And yeah, I’m aware this book is 440 pages long, not 500, but there’s now book on my immediate TBR that’s over 500 pages, except for It, and I don’t think I’ll be able to read It in one week along with four other books.
Read a fifth book
I read The Princess Trap a few months back and adored it, so I just know I’m going to love the sequel!
I love a good friends-to-lovers romance and I’m so freaking excited to see Talia Hibbert’s take on one of my favourite tropes!
I am so excited for this readathon! I really, really hope the books I read are all 5-star worthy.
Are you joining the readathon? Have you read any of the books that I’m going to read? Do you think I’ll actually complete a readathon for once?
