Mid-Year Book Freak Out Tag

Hi all!

So I’ve seen this post floating around, most recently on Natasha @ Cats and Paperback‘s blog, and thought it was an awesome way to catalogue the books I’ve read so far this year!

Best book you’ve read this year

31944679

In Other Lands is definitely the best book I’ve read this year! It’s so amazing and I adore every single character! Elliot is my little bi son, I love him so much! I even have plans to reread it before the end of the year. Please read this book!!

Best sequel so far

36559797

You guys have no idea how beautiful this sequel is! I laughed, I cried, I cried some more, and then I cried some more. It’s just such an incredible ending to an amazing duology and everyone should read it!!!

New release you haven’t read this year but want to

32454291

I’ve been meaning to read this book since it came out back in April! But for some reason other books just keep getting in the way  – although I definitely am going to read this before the end of the year.

Most anticipated release for the second half of the year

135410561

OBVIOUSLY! It’s the last book in The Dark Artifices series 🙌🏼

Biggest disappointment

17465574

Oh wow, did I not like this book – I was really upset at the representation in this novel and the fact that it relies on the ‘burn your gays’ trope, to teach the reader a lesson. Ugh.

Biggest surprise

33160963

I knew I would like this book but I didn’t realise how much I would love it. Everything about it is just beautiful and lovely and I want everyone to read it!!

New favourite author (debut or new to you)

I devoured the first book in the Nighrunner series in a matter of days (which is a pretty big deal because the book’s almost 500 pages long and has tiny writing). Just one book and it’s already a favourite and so is its author, Lynn Flewelling!

New fictional crush

seregil

Seregil from Nightrunner series by Lynn Flewelling! Seregil is both charming and a little shit, and I adore him! He’s funny, caring and incredibly kind and he cares so much for Alec. He’s amazing!

New favourite character

Alec from Nightrunner. Oh man, I love this kid! The entire time I was reading Luck in the Shadows, I wanted to give him a giant hug! Also, I made this:

Book that made you happy

25164304

I basically had a smile on my face the entire time I was reading this book. Of Fire and Stars is just gorgeous.

Fave adaptation

5adf61893dcd4

I’ve only watched one book adaptation this year and it was Love, Simon! So … Love, Simon. I did actually really enjoy this movie too, although I really hated Simon’s friends.

Favourite review you’ve written

My review of Tempests and Slaughter by Tamora Pierce.

Books you want to get to before the end of the year

Ooh, here we go:

And that’s it! The mid-year freak out book tag!

I’m not going to be tagging anyone today, because I wasn’t tagged, but if you want to do this tag, go for it!!

I can’t wait for The Lady’s Guide to Petticoats & Piracy & Muse of Nightmares!! I have already pre-ordered the edition of Muse of Nightmares with sprayed edges. I still need to preorder Lady’s Guide though!
