Announcing the dreaded HIATUS

Hey all!

This is going to be a rambling mess of a blog post, but after much consideration:

I’ve decided I need to take a small hiatus due to work and uni commitments.

I feel really bad about this, but I just can’t work on my blog while I have all of this stress.

For those of you who don’t know, I’m in my final year of a publishing Master’s course and the workload has tripled.

As part of my studies, I had the option of working for an on-campus publishing press which I am doing. I am the submissions editor and blog editor … so I’ll still be working on a blog, just not this one *sob*.

I have to make sure that we post at least two blog posts a week, and I’m also working on a seperate project for the publishing press. If it goes really well, it might even turn into a book! So it’s all very exciting – but it’s also a lot of pressure, too.

I am also the editor and writer for a fitness start-up company, and we’re launching a product at the end of the year. I need to finish two rounds of edits by the middle of April and I just don’t see that happening with my uni assignments and working for the publishing press at the same time.

I love what I’m doing, but it’s a lot of fucking work. I’m writing fitness and workout guides and they’re like 100 pages each. 😭

And the moment, my mental health … is really fucking bad.

I’m stressed all the time and I’ve been having a lot more panic attacks than I used to. I don’t exactly know what’s going on with me – I mean, I can guess but I don’t feel comfortable saying it out loud yet – but I’ve decided I need to see a professional. Everything that used to give me joy, just upsets/depresses/stresses me now, and I’m over it.  Even writing a blog post stresses me out.

Sorry for getting personal, I just feel like I have to explain myself. 😦

So yeah.

I’ve decided taking a hiatus is a good thing, even though I don’t want to because I love my blog so much.

hope to be back by the end of April, but I’m not that sure yet. It might go longer or shorter, depending on uni and editing work.

You will still hear from me, now and again. I have some blogging commitments that I will still uphold.

So you’ll be seeing:

  • Blog tour for The Left Hand of Calvus by Ann Gallagher
  • Blog tour for Gilded Agony by K.A. Merikan
  • A wrap up post for my mARCh Madness: An ARC-less Reading Challenge

I’ll also still be around on Goodreads and Twitter, so if you miss me, hit me up there.

Don’t feel bad Laura. You have so much on your plate right now. A lot of exciting stuff too being a finalist at Uni although the workload has tripled. All the best with the publishing project.

Take care and I hope you feel better x
