#SapphicAThon Wrap Up

The #SapphicAThon is a two-week reading challenge dedicated to reading f/f romances. I joined with a pretty ambitious list – I had a TBR of 16 books – but now it’s over and I’m pretty happy with how I managed to do!

First week

31193155Bingo category: Under 500 Ratings on Goodreads

This short story is very cute and sweet, but I found the writing very elementary. There was no emotion behind anything, just a relation of facts and events. The romance was lovely, but, aside from a few occasions, I just didn’t feel it! Again, that was because of the writing. But the MC was pan, which I thought was awesome.

My rating: ★★★☆☆

PrintBingo category: Jewish MC

This book was the cutest freaking thing I’ve ever read in my life! It was also incredibly unique, with the knitted socks and art paintings. The romance was not overt, but I still found it cute. It was basically two women getting to know each other and becoming close, before taking their relationship to the next level. So sweet.

My rating: ★★★★☆

I really loved this graphic novel. It was the sweetest thing I have read in ages, and it was especially amazing because I had been shopping Korra and Asami since the early seasons of The Legend Of Korra. If you haven’t watched that show, you should. It was amazing seeing and then reading a wlw storyline in a cartoon, traditionally meant for children.

My rating: ★★★★☆

Bingo category:
F/F Retelling

While I really enjoyed this novel, the writing was very similar to The Melody of You and Me and prevented me from becoming fully invested in the characters. There was no emotion? It was just a relation of facts: this happened, then this happened, then this happened. Aside from the writing, the story was fantastic and I loved the Rapunzel retelling element.

My rating: ★★★☆☆

Second Week:

White lily with little flowers on the black background

Bingo category: Ace Spec MC

This novella was quite interesting, but I do have prior issues with second chances novels. So many authors who write this kind of storyline feel that they can get away with not writing chemistry between the characters because they already know/love each other. It was just a lot of ‘I missed you so much’ over and over again, which got really dry. However, I did enjoy how sex positive this novella was.

My rating: ★★★☆☆

17187000Bingo category: MC Realises They’re Queer

I only managed to read one book the second week of the readathon, because a lot of my time was taken up reading Fingersmith by Sarah Waters.

While I didn’t finish this book in it’s entirety, I did read 346 pages out of 548 – or 63%. So far, I’m really enjoying it, but its is very long, and it definitely doesn’t have to be.

My rating so far: ★★★★☆
