My End of Uni Book and TV TBR!

So in two days (!!) university is over for the year and I am literally dyyyyyiiiiiiinnng to read YA again! Not to mention watch T.V. again 😭.

October was a stressful month as I juggled final assessments and exams. When I had the chance to read for pleasure, I basically read a quick romance that was simple and easy enough to read in a few hours. And the only shows I have managed to watch were ones that were 20 minutes long, like The Big Bang Theory and Bob’s Burgers.

Now that uni is all but over, I can finally turn into a couch potato again. Ahhhh, freedom.

During September and October, I completely broke my book buying ban, and was steadily growing a small TBR full of YA new releases that I have been anticipating all year. I’m going to be reading them in October. AND all of my TV shows came back as well! Now I can finally read/watch again!!

My End of Uni Book TBR

Books I’ve bought:

I have a love/hate relationship with Maggie Stiefvater, and this is pretty much her last chance to impress me. I adore The Raven Cycle series, but the last book was terrible. I was so angry at the conclusion that I didn’t want to read her books anymore. Her writing style has changed completely and I’m not liking it. But, All the Crooked Saints has an intriguing plot line. I hope it’s good, or I’ll be annoyed 😫.

I am so freaking excited for Wonder Woman: Warbringer since it was announced! Leigh Bardugo is one of my favourite YA authors, and I also love Wonder Woman herself, so I just know this book is going to be amazing!!

Ughhhhhhh, so if you’ve been following me for a while, you know by now that I’m pretty sick of SJM and her books, but Tower of Dawn is the second-last book in the Throne of Glass series, so it would be stupid of me to not read this book.

I originally wasn’t going to buy Warcrossbut the second I saw it at the bookstore, I couldn’t stop myself from buying it. Marie Lu’s The Young Elites series is one of my favourite YA series ever, so I have high expectations for Warcross! Also, everyone seems to love it too.

Another Leigh Bardugo! The Language of Thorns looks simply beautiful and I just had to buy it. Can’t wait to immerse myself in the beautiful Grisha world again!

Queer, There and Everywhere is a work of YA non-fiction that discusses the lives of famous queer people throughout history. It looks so beautiful, I can’t wait to give it a read and learn about so many important people!

I’ve been dying to read Autoboyography since I first heard of it! It looks super cute and that cover is gorgeous. So many reviewers I trust are loving this book, so I’m even more excited to read it.

Radio Silence is not a book I would have picked up on my own. I’ve seen heaps of my mutuals on Twitter going crazy over this book, and the author is the creator of an on-going queer webtoon, so when I saw it, I knew I had to pick it up!

Books from the library:

Nimona looks like the cutest graphic novel ever and I know many of my friends fell in love with this story. The art also looks incredible too!

So some member of my local library was supposed to return Because You’ll Never Meet Me on 7/9 and still hasn’t and I’m 🙃. You’ve had the book, all up, for close to three months, WHY HAVEN’T YOU RETURNED IT YET?!?! Also, their fine would be massive. Anyway, I’m including this book in my TBR because I am hoping they return it soon!! 🙏🏼

Life in Outer Space is a #LoveOzYA novel, and I really need to read more Aussie YA books! If you have recs, let me know! Anyway, fellow Aussies seem to love this book, so I can’t wait to read it.

Ink and Bone is a book I’ve been meaning to read for ages! A book … about a library? Heck yeah.

ARCs:

I am part of the blog tour for This Mortal Coil and I can’t wait to read it! Everyone seems to be loving it. I haven’t read an awesome YA sci-fi in a while, so here’s hoping I enjoy this one!

White Rabbit is my first 2018 ARC AND I’M SO FREAKING EXCITED!!!! 🎉 A murder mystery, a thriller and a queer m/m romance all wrapped up into one? Um, yes please!

Beulah Land is a queer f/f book about a girl living in the U.S. South, attempting to unravel a dangerous mystery. I’ve got a feeling this book is going to be sad and I’m worried. Just give me happy queer girls please.

Well, if Beulah Land doesn’t give me a happy ending, at least I know The Love Song of Sawyer Bell will. This book has indie rock musicians and girls falling in love. What else could I possibly want?

Antisocial was published back in August, but I still have an ARC of it, and it’s about time I finally read it! It looks super cute and is about artists and Japanese artwork.

Book my friend lent me:

29073707

My friend Steph lent me It’s Not like it’s a Secreta f/f YA book, and said it was the cutest book she’s ever read! It’s about a girl discovering her sexuality and moving to a new city at the same time. Looks lovely!!

Readalong

Hamlette @ The Edge of the Precipice is hosting a Lord of the Rings Readalong over November, which is super exciting as I’ve never read the books before (I tried, guys, ok. It’s hard). Anyway, as I’ve joined a classics book club, and as The Fellowship of the Ring is on my TBR, I thought this was a great opportunity to start my classics reading!

If you have ever considered reading The Lord of the Rings, or feel like rereading it, the readalong is a great chance to do so!

So all up, that’s 19 books I plan to read in November, including: six new releases, and nine queer books.

My End of Year TV TBR

1200px-voltron_-_legendary_defender_logo-svgIt was such a struggle not to watch season four of Voltron. I freaking loved season three, and it ended in a mini cliffhanger! Avoiding the spoilers on Twitter was a nightmare, but I managed (barely).

Anyway, I can’t wait to watch my loves Lance, Keith, Allura, Shiro and Pidge ,and my newest BABY LOTOR. This show is the first one I’m watching.

Season 2 for Stranger Things just came out, so I don’t feel like I’m as behind like I do with Voltron.

Anyway, I adored season 1 and can’t wait to watch the new season and if anyone spoils it, you’re dead to me ☺️.

Then:

The 100 season 4 | Harlots season 1 | Outlander season 3 | Poldark season 2

The Bold Type season 1 | Anne season 1 | Marvel’s Defenders season 1 | Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency season 2

Ten T.V. shows is pretty ambitious. Let’s see if I can get through them. (I doubt it, though.)

Have you finished your uni semester too? What books are you planning to read to celebrate end of the semester / for November? What shows will you be watching as well? Let me know!!

Congrats on a break from school! I’m so excited that your reading Lord of the Rings and I would totally reread them now if it weren’t for the fact that I’m currently in the middle of term 🙂 Can’t wait to hear your thoughts!

Oh I really adore your TBR! I share a couple of them.
And I agree, even though I’ve not been the biggest Maas recently, I really want to read ToD (and whatever else comes afterwards.) I also need to read EoS.
I’m hoping to read Language of Thorns before Halloween! I really enjoyed Ink and Bone and I hope you do, too. Well, I hope you enjoy all of these books, that is 😀
That is indeed an ambitious TV list but hey, you can do it! Be the biggest couch potato there is 😀

I really liked the Ravkan stories and the Kerch one was pretty good too. But I didn’t care much for the Zemeni one. I’m currently reading the Fjerdan story, so we’ll see 🙂
Yay to couch potatoes everywhere!! 😀
        You’re very welcome, Laura ^^

I don’t make TBR’s anymore unless I’m doing book bingo, which I’m taking a break from. I read Nimona for one of my college classes and I absolutely loved it. The story is adorable and I really loved the artwork. Lord of the Rings is one of my favorite classic books, I read the whole book in 10 days.

I don’t usually make TBR’s either – because I never stick to them – but I’m just so excited that I’m almost finished uni. So close to reading them!!
Wow, you got to read Nimona for class? That’s awesome! I was flipping through it and it looks awesome. Excited to hear you love LOR – so excited to read it 😀

Warcross is LOVE! Haven’t read any of Lu’s other work YET, but I’m so going to. No stopping me.

Wonder Woman, The Language of Thorns & Tower of Dawn are on my TBR.
Or, the first two are. The third one has yet to arrive because BD is a *** and hasn’t dispatched my order yet because of stock problems. :’) Also waiting for Heir of Fire before I can continue the series.. *sigh*

    Anyway!
I hope you revel in your rediscovered freedom and enjoy every second of it! 😀

Definitely planning on it! As soon as I’m allowed to buy books again, haha.
I knoooow. It’s the first time I’m having this much trouble with them. I’ve ordered exactly one month ago and I’m still waiting. It’s so.. so.. *sad*
        Hope you love them!
