The Books

So for the Read-a-Thon, I’m focusing on all of the ARCs I need to read before they’re published! (Except for The Tiger’s Watch which is already published.)

Fortitude Smashed by Taylor Brooke: A m/m soulmate romance featuring a cop and an art thief, set in a world where you have an internal clock placed in your thumb that counts down to the exact second you’ll meet your soulmate. Um, yes please. To be published: 21 September. Pages: 312.

27 Hours by Tristina Wright: A LGBTQ YA where a boy raised to love monsters falls in love with a boy raised to kill them, and a girl who speaks to the moon who falls in love with her best friend. I’ve also heard that all of the characters in this novel fall on the LGBTQ+ spectrum, so that’s exciting! To be published: 3 October. Pages: 404.

Among the Red Stars by Gwen C. Katz: Set during WWII, this book focuses on an all-girl pilot group. Based on the true story of the “Night Witches” from WWII. To be published: 3 October. Pages: 384.

Dare Mighty Things by Heather Kaczynski: To win a spot on a spaceship, a group of teens must compete in a physical and mental competition against the world’s most smartest people. To be published: 10 October. Pages: 384.

The Tiger’s Watch by Julia Ember: A novella about a genderqueer protagonist who is hiding out in a monastery after a terrible battle. There, they meet a commander, and must decide to save their country or the boy they’ve fallen for. Published: 22 August. Pages: 180.

I’ve had all of these books backed up on my TBR for at least a month now, and the publishing date just creeps closer and closer. This is the perfect opportunity to force me to read them and hopefully get a review out as soon as possible.

Combined, the books have a total of 1664 pages, meaning I have to read about 112 118 pages a day to finish all of the books in two weeks. That might be difficult, but I’ll try as I currently have no assignments for uni until late September!
[Update: It’s actually 118 pages per day, I wrote the incorrect amount of pages for one book.]

IMPORTANT: Also, while I will use my blog to post the final wrap-up post for the Read-a-thon, I will be using Twitter for my daily updates to keep myself motivated. Follow me on Twitter to see my updates, or follow me if you just want me to annoy you: @laurabookcorps 😊

This seems like such a fun Read-a-thon. I really hope I get the chance to finish all the books! Are you participating in the Read-a-Thon? What books have you chosen?
